NEWS Future Makers: Empowering Young Musicians at the Royal Albert Hall

On the 6th November 2024 the Anglo Asia Education Foundation held our third annual Future Makers event, a remarkable collaboration with the iconic Royal Albert Hall. This inspiring day was filled with exceptional talent, energy, and a shared passion for nurturing the next generation of musicians.

Hitting All the Right Notes

Our event began with a delightful lunch buffet in a special room brimming with friends and supporters. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, setting the tone for the incredible experiences to follow. We were honoured to have distinguished guests join us, including the South African and Kazakh Ambassadors, whose presence made the day even more special.

Talent That Transcends

Seated in the prestigious King's Box, we had the privilege of watching talented musicians aged 14-18 take the stage. Their confidence and freedom were truly inspiring. As they performed their original compositions, it was clear they owned the stage and captivated the entire audience. The energy in the room was electric—students beside us couldn't stay seated, standing and waving throughout the performances.

The Future Makers Program

Launched in 2022, three years in a row the Future Makers program showcases young musicians from across the UK who are creating original music. This year, we witnessed significant growth:

  • Over 100 government schools through out UK and their aspiring musicians applied to audition, a substantial increase from previous years.
  • Over 80 young musicians and their groups participated in live auditions.
  • 30 musicians in 8 acts were selected to perform on the Royal Albert Hall's main stage.

Each act received feedback from a panel of industry experts, including music producers and agents. The winning act will benefit from a bespoke package of support for a year, including time with a music producer, live performance opportunities, marketing and PR support, and assistance with launching an EP.

Inspiring the Next Generation

The audience of over 4000 students was not just spectators but future artists themselves. By offering tickets at a reduced price and providing resource packs to teachers, we aim to inspire these young individuals to explore music and performance. The enthusiasm and energy they brought to the event were palpable, and it's clear that events like these can ignite a lifelong passion for the arts.

We are immensely grateful to everyone who made this day possible. Our heartfelt thanks go to the Royal Albert Hall the team were a true pleasure to work with. The collaborative effort of all involved truly helped in fostering a vibrant future for the arts and empowering the next generation of creators.

Looking Ahead

The impact of Future Makers is multifaceted. It inspires young audience members to engage with music, provides shortlisted acts with invaluable performance opportunities and professional support, and offers the winning act comprehensive support to advance their musical careers. We are excited about the growth of this program and look forward to evolving it further in the coming years.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating the incredible talent and potential of these young musicians. Together, we are fostering a vibrant future for the arts and empowering the next generation of creators.
